Peter Reason

Action Research

I retired in 2009 from an academic career at the University of Bath in which my primary contribution was to the theory and practice of participatory action research. I was Director of the Centre for Action Research in Professional Practice (CARPP) and co-founder of the MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice. In these programmes we pioneered graduate education based on collaborative, experiential and action-oriented forms of inquiry.

Writing the World

My major concern has been with the devastating and unsustainable impact of human activities on the biosphere. I believe any significant change toward sustainability requires a fundamental shift in our sense of who we humans are in relation to the planet that sustains us. somewhere in the development of civilization we started to see ourselves as separate from, rather than part of, the community of life on Earth. I am seeking to explore and articulate how we might create an in-depth and almost taken-for-granted experience of ourselves as participants in the fabric and process of the planet.
